About Aronnyok
Aronnyok took shape out of love for art. Thus we try to create art our way here. Giving shape to designs and visions. The colours and fabric and designs which we create in our mind, Aronnyok is that space where we give form to our imaginations.
Started From Home
Aronnyok was started from home, at home. My father is an artist, he used to paint, on paper, on fabrics. My mother used to stitch designs on sarees, on fabrics. This always fascinated me. How a solid plain canvas, a piece of fabric, a saree change and take another shape with some touches of colours or some threads always mesmerised me. I then realised I can give shape to my visions, my colours here. I can tell stories, create art, here. Thus, Aronnyok took birth.
We create Art and then, We curate Art.
Everyday I get up is a new day for me with new ideas, new designs, new colour palette and trying to give shape to those. This, creating something new, something different everyday is what motivates me, pushes me and excites me. Aronnyok is a space which helps me fly, fly as much as I want without wings.
We started with sarees initially and with painting umbrellas. We have been painting umbrellas for long. We started with that. We met, collaborated with people, and started making some and curating most of the products from various artists all over Bengal. We started to meet weavers from various parts of Bengal and curate sarees from them as well as ‘karigars’ (workers) who worked with thread and needle. Slowly from sarees we ventured into dresses, stoles, dupattas, skirts, jackets. We started designing and manufacturing. We now have a very small unit where we manufacture our products. We started making sarees mostly and curating a lesser number. Only very unique pieces are curated now as we have started making unique pieces.
