Upcycle and recycle, people are often confused, I hear questions regarding what is the difference between upcycle and recycle. Giving a complete new shape and look to something old is recycle and upgrading an old product and giving it a new look is upcycle.

How It Started

I had been doing recycling and upcycling for long. KHELAGHOR started with a set of jamdani curtains made of an old jamdani saree. But I decided to work on upcycling and recycling after a discussion which I attended and was asked to speak on textile industry. While studying more and more on textile industry, I came to know how harmful textile waste is and how it is covering most of the environmental waste and damaging the eco-system. It was then the seed to work on upcycle grew and later germinated.

The need of the hour

This is now the need of the hour. The world and the society needs it. We must recycle and upcycle as much and through this it is my plea and pleasure to work on it, also a very tiny way to give back to the eco-system, to the environment.

Working on upcycle is laborious and very time consuming and also expensive. Giving a new shape to something already there is not easy and also not all want to work on it. So upcycle or recycle is maybe not for everyone but it stimulates my creativity the most and I absolutely love to see something new coming out of something old.

After all, Art is what I always want to make in whichever form.
